Pacific Ridge School Students Win Gold at 2011 Heritage Music Festival in San Francisco

Carlsbad A Cappella Group Receives Gold Award at National Music Festival and Receives Invitation to Perform at Carnegie Hall National Youth Choir Festival in New York City, March 2012.

Carlsbad, CA, April 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday, March 27, high school students from Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad traveled to San Francisco, Calif., to participate in the Heritage Festival where they received top honors at this national event. The students’ musical performance was judged by professional choral conductors based on a national set of performance standards and criteria, including intonation, tone, blend, balance, diction, general effect, choice of music, and interpretation. Plaques were awarded indicating each school’s rating on one of five levels: gold, silver, bronze, merit and festival.

“We congratulate each member of the Pacific Ridge School a cappella group on receiving a gold award, the highest level possible, at the Heritage Music Festival in San Francisco,” said Steven Dziekonski, music teacher at Pacific Ridge School. “Because of their outstanding performance, the students were also invited to sing in the Carnegie Hall National Youth Choir Festival next March in New York City.”

Through a partnership with Field Studies, a unique performing organization that has been providing students with the chance to perform in Carnegie Hall since 1991, groups appearing at the Heritage Festival have the opportunity to perform at this celebrated venue in the Elite Performance Series. Participation in the Elite Performance Series is available to students who have attended a regular Heritage festival and achieved a Gold rating.

The gold award won by the a cappella group in San Francisco follows the school’s 2010 gold award at the Anaheim Heritage Music Festival, where Pacific Ridge School competed among 17 schools nationally.
