Oklahoma City, OK, April 17, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- RadioOKC, a Oklahoma City webcaster which began streaming its unique Adult Alternative music format in June of 2009, has launched a weekly FM broadcast on Tyler Media's FM94.1 in Oklahoma City.
The agreement brings RadioOKC's Adult Alternative format to the FM dial in the OKC metro once a week.
Station Program Director Chris Torrick explains, "It was the next logical step to grow our online brand. Since the station launched we have done a lot of firsts, including streaming live from the '2010 OKC Festival Of The Arts.' We used social marketing to get the word out about the station and the music we play and now our 3 Hour broadcast in Oklahoma City on 94.1 FM is just another way of letting the OKC metro know that we're here and we want you to come check us out, both on FM94.1 and on our website."
RadioOKC describes itself as an Adult Alternative format which focuses on heritage alternative acts like Elvis Costello, The Cure, r.e.m, Depeche Mode, U2 and some pretty obscure college rock from the 80s. Torrick elaborates, "We do this with a mix of current alternative music that people can relate to and understand. There is a lot of music branded as alternative that is garbage. I think our listeners appreciate our pro-active approach to new music with a little filtering."
Torrick confirmed that the online stream will remain commercial free as it has been since the station launched. "Royalty costs are much higher for webcasters who run commercials in their stream, and the more revenue you generate, the more you pay in those royalties," Torrick states. The FM broadcast will be commercial with profits to cover operational expenses of both the FM broadcast and RadioOKC website.
The broadcast of "RadioOKC on 94.1" airs weekly on Friday night at Midnight on KTLR.
