"What Weather Teaches" with Founders of Shaman’s Circle on April 19 "Why Shamanism Now?" Radio Show

On her radio show "Why Shamanism Now? A Practical Path to Authenticity,” teacher, author and founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt welcomes Nan Moss and David Corbin of The Shaman’s Circle as part of series featuring guests from the Society of Shamanic Practitioners. Pratt talks to Moss and Corbin about and the intimate relationship between our inner states, the weather and our ability to transform the damage humans are doing to the environment.

Portland, OR, April 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Streaming live on the Co-Creator Radio Network (www.co-creatornetwork.com) on Tuesday, April 19, at 11 a.m. Pacific time/2 p.m. Eastern time, on her show "Why Shamanism Now?: A Practical Path to Authenticity,” shaman and founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt welcomes Nan Moss and David Corbin of The Shaman’s Circle who tell listeners: “We are passionate about using shamanic skills and practices to become fully human, about approaching and manifesting those potentials that human beings represent. We are interested in using our knowledge, our minds, our emotions, and our bodies, to help support the well-being and evolution of this world and all its residents.”

In this episode of “Why Shamanism Now?” titled “What Weather Teaches,” Pratt, Moss and Corbin explore Weather Dancing, Cloud Dancing, and the intimate relationship between our inner states, the weather and our ability to transform the damage humans are doing to the environment. Moss and Corbin share the belief that through their shamanic practice, weather teachings and through circles of Weather Dancers formed from their Weather programs, change can happen, wounds can heal, and nature and humans can work together towards an alive and vital future. Moss and Corbin talk to Pratt as part of a series of “Why Shamanism Now?” episodes sponsored by the Society of Shamanic Practitioners (SSP). Throughout this series, Pratt explores how contemporary shamans are meeting the challenge of their world where the relations of things—the living and the dead, the humans and nature, and the technological world and the spirit world—are profoundly out of balance. It is the ancient role of the shaman in all cultures to tend the balance of things, and the question is asked: how are these shamans meeting this extraordinary need today?

Christina Pratt is an authentic, non-traditional contemporary shaman. In practice since 1990, she specializes in mending the soul and transforming the parts of life that feel impossible. A teacher of exceptional clarity, humor and inspiration, Pratt brings the power of shamanism into the practical grasp of anyone willing to take responsibility for improving the quality of their life. Her well-received book, An Encyclopedia of Shamanism (Rosen), is an 800-page, two-volume set with over 750 in-depth entries that clearly discuss the basic concepts of shamanism, methods, and traditions of over 50 different shamanic peoples. Pratt is the founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing in Portland, OR and New York, NY, creator of the original Foundations of Shamanism and Shamanic Healing course at the University of Minnesota and a frequent and honored speaker for the American Holistic Medical Association.

Nan P. Moss, C.S.C., and David Corbin, M.S., C.S.C., are faculty members of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, teaching the beginning to the most advanced courses for the Foundation at locations throughout the Northeast, including Boston and New York City. Additionally, they lead 5-day shamanic workshops and month-long intensives at Esalen Institute in California. Their interest in the spiritual aspects of weather is a longstanding one, and Moss and Corbin have been teaching and doing research on the spiritual aspects of weather for more than 10 years. Their book, Weather Shamanism: Harmonizing Our Connection with the Elements, was published in 2008, and their introductory workshop, WeatherDancing: Shamanism and the Spirits of Weather, has been offered in the U.S. and Canada since 1999. They also published CloudDancing: Wisdom from the Sky, a set of shamanic divination cards and guidebook using cloud images. In addition to their training in core shamanism, Moss and Corbin have also studied with indigenous healers from various cultures, including Siberian, Tuvan, Saami, Chinese, and Native American. They are founding members of the Society for Shamanic Practitioners. They have a private shamanic healing and counseling practice in Port Clyde, Maine. http://www.shamanscircle.com.
