MD-IT Announces Release of Innovative EMR for Reluctant Users

MD-IT releases a practical use EMR designed to provide physicians with the convenience of dictation combined with all the benefits of electronic medical records.

Boulder, CO, April 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- MD-IT, a leading provider of medical documentation software and service to ambulatory clinics and physician offices, announced today the official release of an innovative electronic medical record (EMR) that is designed for physicians who are dissatisfied with the current generation of products on the market. The MD-IT EMR solves the two major complaints that physicians have about traditional EMRs: permanent productivity declines and patient records that lack clinical utility.

“We built an EMR for doctors who don’t want to go to an EMR, but have to,” said Robin Daigh, vice president of marketing and business development for MD-IT. “Many doctors feel they are being forced to use EMR products that slow them down and provide little useful clinical information. We solved this problem by building an EMR around current workflows. Doctors can dictate and receive detailed narrative notes that tell the patient’s story, while we use technology in the background to create the database required for data analysis and reporting.”

Dictation continues to be the preferred method for documenting patient encounters, because it makes efficient use of physician time, is customized for each medical specialty, and provides a detailed description of each patient visit required for continuity of care and verification of insurance coverage.

“The time for a sensible EMR is long overdue,” said Dr. Anthony Valenti, a pilot MD-IT EMR user. “MD-IT has eliminated a significant barrier that often stands between a physician and the patient. The MD-IT EMR allows our physicians to focus on the practice of medicine, and not the process of documentation.”

“Our EMR is so simple to install and use, we can have a physician up and running with less than two hours of training,” noted Evan Frankel, MD‑IT product manager. “This is especially important in smaller practices that can’t afford the tremendous downtime often associated with learning a complex EMR.”

The MD-IT EMR is designed especially for 1) specialty groups that use narrative notes as a primary source of communication and marketing to referring physicians; 2) small practices that seek a simple software solution which is easy to install and use, and 3) physicians that prefer dictation and seek to avoid the permanent productivity declines of point and click EMRs.
