Burnham, IL at Knockout Sports Complex

Take a step in the initiative. The Knockout Sports Foundation “Growing Up Green” Urban Garden Project officially takes off on Arbor Day – Friday, April 29, 2011 beginning at 2:00PM.

Participate in this exciting project by volunteering time and earn a free tree in honor of Arbor Day. The initiative will happen at the Knockout Sports Complex at 3 S. Martha St. in Burnham, IL. The goals for the urban garden are to support healthy eating habits, community power, and supply affordable food. Children will join elders in the urban gardens and the youth will learn from their elders. The urban garden environment will foster an enlightened sense of community where growing is key.

Knockout Sports Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization based in the south suburbs of Chicago. KSF was founded in 2009 by global boxing champion, Mr. “Mighty” Mike Evans and professional boxing promoter Nilam Patel. The mission of the KSF is to foster a youth-motivation program, targeting several disadvantaged Chicago south suburban communities.

This is a free event. Donations of gardening equipment, soil, plants, and funds are welcome.
