SpanglishBaby Launches School Library Contest Winning School Will Take $500 Worth of Bilingual and Spanish Books

Los Angeles, CA, April 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- SpanglishBaby.com, the go-to site for parents raising bilingual and bicultural children, launches My Bilingual School Library Contest giving dual language (or bilingual) schools the opportunity to compete for $500 worth of bilingual or Spanish books to stock their libraries.

As the 15th anniversary of ElDiade los Ninos/El Dia de los Libros fast approaches, SpanglishBaby and many of the leading bilingual publishing houses in the nation join forces to help a school with a Spanish-language program (dual language, full or partial immersion) stock its library with bilingual and Spanish books for its students.

“Bilingual teachers spend a lot of time and money on resources for their classroom because they're usually underfunded,” says SpanglishBaby’s co-founder, Roxana A. Soto. “In fact, we know of several Spanish teachers who have to bring books from their own home libraries to share with their students because they have no budget to grow their school's bilingual libraries. We want to try to change that.”

For a school to enter My Bilingual School Library Contest, it will have to electronically send a picture of a Dia poster created by either its second or third graders, together with a short paragraph explaining why they should win and what winning would mean to them. Once all entries are received by May 8th, 2011, readers will be invited to vote for their favorite submission.

My Bilingual School Library Contest will give Spanish teachers an opportunity to foment their students’ love for reading in Spanish by providing them with a variety of book to choose from.
