Lavendon’s Gurpartap Singh Takes Prize for IPAF Training Instructor of the Year

Lutterworth, United Kingdom, April 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Lavendon Group employee Gurpartap Singh has been named IPAF Training Instructor of the Year. He impressed judges with his passion for training and his personal journey from a small village in India to playing a key role in powered access in the Middle East.

Gurpartap, who works for Rapid Access, based in the United Arab Emirates, was named the winner at the prestigious International Awards for Powered Access (IAPA) in Amsterdam this month (April).

Judges said he was clearly a passionate advocate of IPAF training, adding: "His is a great story of personal achievement and was described by his employer as not just a great trainer, but one of the company's best ambassadors."

Mark Robinson, Group External Training Manager at Lavendon Access Services, who put Gurpartap forward for the award, said: “This is a well deserved accolade for a very dedicated training instructor.

“The feedback we get is that he is hugely respected for his knowledge and approach by trainees and their employers. When faced with a task he naturally starts thinking how he can add value to his solution.”

Gurpartap, aged 28, said: “This is a real honour. I am very surprised but very happy to have won. This is an award for all the employees at Rapid Access. We work together as a team to get the job done.”

Gurpartap was born on his family’s farm on the outskirts of a small village called Pundri in the state of Haryana in Northern India. After graduating from college, in 2005 he followed his father’s example by seeking work in UAE.

His first job was as a light truck driver. In 2006, he joined Rapid Access as a heavy trailer driver and operator – and quickly impressed his supervisors with his can-do attitude; obtaining his IPAF instructor’s license in 2007.

Mark Robinson said: “We are very pleased to have spotted Gurpartap’s talent and given him the chance to shine. Lavendon is always keen to promote from within where people show ability and application.

“It’s good for IPAF as well because Gurpartap’s a brilliant salesman. IPAF is only just getting itself recognised in the Gulf, so he does a great job promoting the benefits of what, for many, is an unknown quantity.”
