Charlie Sheen Wins Celebrity Smokers’ Award

The Stop Smoking For Good “Celebrity Smokers Award” is presented to the celebrity smoker with the most votes each month. It was created to help increase awareness of the influence celebrity smoking has on our society. With up to half of all new smoking startups attributable to young people witnessing celebrities smoking, (Lancet 2003 http://image.thelancet.com/extras/03art1353web.pdf) celebrity smoking is a serious issue.

Vancouver, Canada, May 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Stop Smoking For Good Company announces that the votes are in and the winner of the April 2011 Celebrity Smokers’ “Your Example’s Killing Us” Award, is Charlie Sheen.

Visitors to the Stop Smoking For Good blog (blog.stopsmokingforgood.com) in April voted Mr. Sheen to be the celebrity smoker most deserving. His official Award Certificate can be seen displayed on the Celebrity Smokers’ “Wall of Shame.” (StopSmokingForGood.com/celebrity-smokers-wall-of-shame.htm)

This month’s contest winner also made smoking news last month, when he was rebuked for public smoking by the Ontario Health Minister, during a recent visit to Canada. (Full news story: http://www.vancouversun.com/business/Ontario+wags+finger+Charlie+Sheen+need+quit+smoking/4624412/story.html)

With up to half of all new smoking light-ups attributable to young people witnessing celebrity smoking, (Lancet 2003 http://image.thelancet.com/extras/03art1353web.pdf) the Celebrity Smokers’ award is designed to draw attention to the negative impact smoking celebrities have on young people - while offering a viable solution for the “winner.”

Along with the Award comes a public challenge for Mr. Sheen, as current Award recipient, to stop smoking for good - both in private and in public. Each month The Stop Smoking For Good Company extends a public challenge to each Award “winner” to stop smoking for good, offering them help, including a complete smoking cessation program “How to Stop Smoking For Good in 5 Days” on paperback and audio CDs, to aid in the process.

Voting is open to the public (one vote per month - no registration required) at the company blog. Voters are presented with a choice of 10 of today’s most “in-the-spotlight” celebrity smokers – with the option to nominate a celebrity smoker of their choice.

The Stop Smoking For Good Company promotes global smoking cessation through online choices & awareness programs such as the Celebrity Smokers’ Award. Their website offers popular stop smoking programs, products & assistance – with an extensive listing of free cessation help.
