Dawna Lee Heising of EOE Interviews John Difusco at Fool for Love Event at Beyond Baroque

Venice, CA, May 11, 2011 --( Dawna Lee Heising and John Cox of Eye on Entertainment covered the poetry and music event “Fool for Love” at Beyond Baroque on Thursday, April 21, 2011 in Venice, CA. The event featured: Rex Weiner, Jerry Garcia, George Small, Beth Ruscio, Leon Martell, S.A. Griffin, Tommy Swerdlow, Yvonne De La Vega and Iris Berry, and John Di Fusco with percussionist Al Kieth.

DiFusco created the ground-breaking, critically-acclaimed Vietnam play Tracers, with a group of Vietnam veteran-actors. He directed the New York Premiere of Tracers at The Public theatre where it was published as one of “The Ten Best of 85/86.” Through most of the 80’s he toured with “Tracers,” both nationally and internationally. “Tracers” continues to be produced around the country and in Los Angeles, most recently at Loft Ensemble. In 2007, he performed his autobiographical piece, “Walk’n thru the Fire” at The Hayworth Theatre. The play made LA Weekly’s Ten Best of the Year list. DiFusco appeared in all three plays of Jovanka Bach’s “Balkan Trilogy,” and he recently starred in “Nightsong of the Boatman” at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles and the Barrows Theatre in New York, where it received rave reviews. “Nightsong of the Boatman” was written by Jovanka Bach and directed by John Stark.

DiFusco is a member of The Actors Studio Playwright & Directors Unit, The LA Writers Center and Rogue Machine Theatre Company. He has received The NY Drama Desk Award, The LADCC Award, LA Weekly, NAACP Theatre, Drama-Logue, and Valley Theatre League Awards. DiFusco received the USAF Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service in Vietnam, and has appeared in numerous films and television shows. Go to for a full biography.
