The Bloor Group Information Oriented Architecture Poster and White Paper Now Available

The Bloor Group recently conducted a series of web seminars and roundtable discussions around the architecture required for an agile business. The result is an Information Oriented Architecture poster diagramming the component technologies and a white paper that explains how they fit into the environment. It is a great visual for those trying to get their arms around the big picture - to see the technologies currently in place and those they wish to deploy.

New Orleans, LA, May 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Groundbreaking research conducted in a series of webcasts and roundtable discussions on "Enabling the Agile Business with an Information Oriented Architecture" resulted in the creation of a poster that lays out the component technologies for an Information Oriented Architecture and an associated white paper to describe each solution area.

The Bloor Group designed the Information Oriented Architecture (IOA), the data-oriented companion to a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), as an aid for organizations seeking to modernize their information architectures to meet today's data-centric environments.

According to Dr. Robin Bloor, principal analyst with the Bloor Group who authored the study, the need for an effective architecture to manage business intelligence (BI) and BI–related applications has become obvious in recent years. “The dream of a single data warehouse satisfying all data needs is thankfully long dead,” Dr. Bloor said. “However the demand for data services and data integration has not evaporated. Indeed, it has grown to the extent that satisfying this demand with point-to-point data flows is becoming impractical. This more than anything else has established the need for an IOA.”

The new research study resulted in an IOA road map, which diagrams the component technologies, and an associated white paper offering insights about the various technologies that exist to design, launch and maintain an IOA as well as those that enable the kind of self-service BI that pundits for years have touted as the Holy Grail of informatics.

The IOA poster and associated white paper, sponsored by Composite, Denodo, Ideate, Pentaho and Talend, are available for download at http://www.thevirtualcircle.com/downloads/the-ioa-downloads/.
