Landlords Get a Break on Major Costs with New Money Saving Landlord Assist from HomeSource

Landlords and property investors in Australia finally get a break from increasing maintenance and emergency costs with a new product that’s tailored to help them manage the costs associated with maintaining rental and investment properties.

Sydney, Australia, May 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- While there is a huge demand for rental properties in Sydney and other Australian cities, Pia Vogel, HomeSource Joint Managing Director says that every property investor knows that a well kept property can command not only better rents but also better quality tenants.

She adds that it is the unforeseen costs along with the increasing cost of finance that keep property investors worried.

In a recent survey 62 per cent of recent property purchases reported that they had spent money on unforeseen repairs within 12 months of purchase.

“It’s these unexpected costs and high finance costs that made us come up with Landlord Assist tailored to help landlords mitigate increasing costs,” says Pia Vogel.

Landlord Assist is an Australian first and has been specifically designed to cover the main sources of unforeseen repairs being electrical and plumbing maintenance and emergencies. Once purchased, Landlord Assist covers the labour charges associated with these sorts of repairs, potentially saving the landlord $1000s per year.

HomeSource Joint Managing Director Pia Vogel especially recommends Landlord Assist to property investors who rely on negative gearing to make their investment work.

“Over 70 per cent of investors are reliant upon negative gearing and while it provides a quick tax fix, it can be a dangerous strategy in a market where costs are rising,” Ms Vogel warns.

She explains that Landlord Assist has a one-off, upfront cost that saves time and money on property maintenance and repairs. It allows investors to budget in the knowledge that when a repair is required, the labour costs are already covered.

She adds: “That means the property investor only needs to cover the costs of parts, if they are required.”

Ms Vogel says that in a recent claim, one member had substantial problems with tree roots blocking drains. This one event saved the owner $250 over and above the cost of their membership, as all repairs were covered by their Landlord Assist membership.

Landlord Assist offers a service that provides qualified and expert trades people on call 24/7, to help solve a range of electrical and plumbing issues in and around your property. Offered at capped costs, all the landlord needs to do is pay for the parts if any are required.

Landlords will also be able to share advice and tips with each other via the soon to be launched HomeSource’s Landlord blog. The website is full of useful information as well as current news.
