Competitive Intelligence in the Trenches: Merck

Cliff Kalb, former head of Merck’s intelligence function, offers lessons learned building a world-class, demand-driven competitive intelligence operation.

Cincinnati, OH, May 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Presented by the SCIP Southwest Ohio Chapter and the SLA Cincinnati chapter on June 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, this session offers lessons learned from the pragmatic experience of building a world class, demand driven operation that grew to become top management's partner in decision making at Merck. The delicate balance of supply and demand between producers and consumers of intelligence is explored as well.

Build and develop an intelligence team through careful client negotiations.
Identify, plan and execute on intelligence projects with discipline and rigor.
Understand the level of development of your firm’s competitive intelligence function.
Lead a cross functional team that supported the creation of a joint venture and some tough lessons learned from an actual case history of competitive intelligence in action

To facilitate learning and peer interaction, this session will be remotely presented at two locations: IBM/Sterling Commerce in Dublin, Ohio, and Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL in Cincinnati, Ohio. Registration for SCIP and SLA members is $10, and $15 for others.
