Local Fitness Club Exercises for a Cause

Local members of Atlanta-based FitWit recently gave of their time and talent to help clean up around East Atlanta’s Maynard E. Jackson High School. The clean up, which took place on Saturday, April 16th from 9 am to 2 pm, is a continuation of FitWit’s ongoing commitment of “giving back” to the local community.

Atlanta, GA, May 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- FitWit, a locally owned and operated fitness camp, distinguishes itself from its boot camp competitors through its staunch commitment to philanthropy via the FitWit Foundation. The purpose of this foundation is to empower young people to live healthy and successful lives and is accomplished through the provision of free fitwit camps, coaching and education to otherwise underserved Atlanta youth. In fact, for every one person that signs up for one six week camp, one deserving child receives a free week of fitness camp and instruction from FitWit’s professional trainers.

FitWit forms partnerships with local public schools and often hosts its workout camps on school property. Monies raised from camp enrollments and other fundraisers go to provide exercise education and awareness to underprivileged youth. Since January of this year, over $5000 has been raised for the FitWit Foundation.

“We are so very excited to have this opportunity to work with the local school systems in a joint effort to get communities healthy,” explains Josh Guerrieri, FitWit Foundation’s Vice President.

“I am thrilled that FitWit is such a supporter of what we are doing. They have been extremely encouraging of our students and an ongoing ally for the cause of fitness education,” adds Reginald Curry, Athletic Director at Maynard Jackson High School. “Together, we are changing lives.”

The FitWit Foundation and Atlanta Public Schools are eager to begin what appears to be a long-standing partnership of health and education. FitWit boot camps, combined with the Foundation’s commitment to providing high-quality fitness education, is what will enable local deserving youth get healthy and stay healthy.
