Lake Lanier Islands Resort Secures Its Anchor as a Summertime Destination in the South with Debut of Lanierworld

Curtain Rises on Exciting New Boardwalk-Themed Entertainment District at the North Georgia Lakeside Resort This Memorial Day Weekend

Buford, GA, May 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The long-awaited premiere of the newest addition to Georgia’s Lake Lanier Islands Resort takes place Memorial Day Weekend 2011. Designed to evoke the nostalgic feel of a classic shoreline boardwalk blended with the excitement of something entirely new, the sprawling lakeside LanierWorld encompasses three distinct segments paired with a wide-ranging menu of new eateries and live performance calendar for nothing less than a world-class entertainment district for kids of all ages.

“At Lake Lanier Islands Resort, we strive to give each of our Resort guests and daily visitors an experience they won’t soon forget. With the introduction of LanierWorld, we’re doing just that,” explains Islands Management Company CEO and mastermind behind LanierWorld, Virgil Williams. “LanierWorld is an imaginative compilation of feedback we’ve received from longtime fans and guests of the Resort. This is really their vision – a place dedicated to one thing, the quest for fun! Fun means different things to different people, so with that in mind, LanierWorld provides something unique for every sort of visitor to Lake Lanier Islands Resort. We believe it’s our most exciting undertaking to date and we can’t wait to share it with our guests.”

LanierWorld’s three districts consist of:

· Family Fun Park - Wet and wild water attractions, family-friendly dining at the Island Grill, a multitude of snack stands, and The Beach Shop – plus Dive-in Movies shown on a towering two-story screen after dark and Landlubber’s Lagoon Carnival, showcasing 12 rides that run the gamut from the charm of a traditional Ferris Wheel to the mind-boggling thrill of The Twister.

· Big Beach – Offering up live entertainment from a floating stage, life-guarded swimming area, and free access to more than a half-mile stretch of white sandy beach with the wake from passing boats lapping at the shoreline, guests will want to arrive early to stake their claim on a primo spot on the sand. Visitors can expect to find kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for rent on the beach and may be asked to jump in on a friendly volleyball competition or game of Frisbee toss. The promenade running the length of Big Beach features water slides for the brave of heart, as well as the High Ropes Course, 18-hole Lakeside Links Miniature Golf Course, a slew of Boardwalk Shops, and two new restaurants - The Tiki Hut for tapas and drinks with a beachfront view, and Gianni’s for a distinctive taste of the Italian Riviera and panoramas of Lake Sidney Lanier.

· Sunset Cove – The “big kid playground” that surrounds Sunset Cove Beach Cafe & Club features extended hours, nightly entertainment on the Cove’s floating stage, more boat slips, and two additional new restaurants – Fire & Ice offering classic Southern smoked barbeque and frozen concoctions, and Dog & Draft House featuring ice cold beer on tap and gourmet hot dogs. Regularly scheduled events such as Masterpiece Mondays, Volleyball Tuesdays, Wakeboard Wednesdays, Full Throttle Thursdays, Ditch Fridays, Legends at the Lake Concerts, Win it in Just a Minute Contests, and the Islands’ renowned Full Moon Parties are the Resort's key to ensuring that there’s never a dull moment at the Cove – no matter the day of the week.

LanierWorld's Grand Opening during Memorial Day Weekend features a jam-packed calendar of events boasting live entertainment all weekend long, the first kid-friendly Dive-in movies of the season, and nightly fireworks spectacular "But that’s just the icing on the Memorial Day cake. The real treat will be found in discovering this entirely unique, wholly original lakeside destination – the perfect excuse to get away from it all for an afternoon, evening, weekend escape, or week-long family vacation on the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier," says Williams. "We invite folks from all over the Southeast to come experience LanierWorld – whether they arrive by car, by boat or on foot. We believe they’ll fall in love with the Islands, and want to return time and again to recapture that one-of-a-kind feeling of summertime fun.”

LanierWorld will be open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
