New Non-Profit Directory by NPOD.org Makes Finding, Volunteering, Donating Easy

NPOD.org helps to promote non-profits, connect with community.

San Francisco, CA, May 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- It’s hard to sort through the two million non-profits in the country, but one new website makes it easy.

The newly launched Non-Profit Organizations Directory at NPOD.org offers users the chance to find their favorite non-profits, but also to help build the profile of the ones they support, volunteer with and work at. Profiles help boost results in search engines, get social media exposure, attract visitors and generate new donors.

“There are so many nonprofits to keep track of, and yet it’s still so tough to know the ones in your neighborhood, NPOD.org is going to change that,” said Ellen Kennedy, Organization Outreach Manager. “The directory puts all the needed information in one place, and gives people the chance to help participate and build. Nonprofits are community builders, and the directory at npod.org helps more people find and connect with nonprofits in their own communities.”

Organizations in the npod.org directory are featured using a quick finder, mapped by their location, categorized and featured in several ways. Facebook and Twitter feeds for each non-profit are automatically imported into each profile, and YouTube videos are seamlessly embedded.

“There’s just so much information out there on nonprofits, it’s convenient to have it here at npod.org, all in one place,” Kennedy said. “It helps people find a place to volunteer, find a nonprofit to support, and find a place to investment time, money and share their passion.”

There are over 1,500,000 tax-exempt organizations in America. Non-profit revenues topped $1.4 trillion in 2008. A recent survey reported that over 26% of Americans over the age of 16 volunteered for a tax-exempt organization.
