Sheila Quinn Simpson Revealed the Amazing Power of a Genuine Apology to Donna Marie Thompson, PhD CEO of Goals in Action, LLC on the Bouncing Back Now Show on RCRN TV

Sheila Quinn Simpson explained the healing power of a sincere apology and explored why is it so difficult for some people to apologize even where there is so much at stake.

Washington, DC, May 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- As Donna Marie Thompson's special guest on the Bouncing Back Now show on the Real Coaching Radio TV Network, Sheila Quinn Simpson, author of “Apology The Importance and Power of Saying I’m Sorry” highlighted the healing power of a genuine apology.

Simpson described the important role of a sincere apology in a romantic relationship. "The effects of a heartfelt apology are far reaching and can begin to mend the bonds and repair the damage of many transgressions. The effects of no apology or an insincere or expedient apology cause further damage to the relationship and often represent a total lack of respect and a breach of trust."

Simpson explained the difference between regret and apology. "In regret, people bounce back to the past or what occurred whereas in apology, they bounce forward toward healing. I think it so difficult for some people to apologize because they lacked good role models, were punished severely, or they were damaged somewhere along the way and for some reason cannot give up what they are holding on to very tightly - their imperviousness to the outside world and scrutiny of their actions. This behavior might have served them well early in life as a defense mechanism, but later on in adulthood it is a true relationship killer. This fear is so ingrained that some would risk isolation, anger, mistrust, and relationship destruction - when all it would take is a simple apology to make things right. They are obviously struggling with serious issues."

Simpson stated: "The good news is that it is never too late to apologize. In our romantic relationship we should approach our spouse or loved and let them know how important an apology is to us."

Dr. Thompson added that an apology can yield amazing results; many relationships have bounced back from serious situations as a result of a sincere apology.

Simpson is the Regional Director, Lake Superior State University-Gaylord, and an owner and speaker at Open Pathways Seminars. She resides in northern Michigan with her husband. For more information on Sheila Quinn Simpson visit: http://www.friendsonpurpose.com.
