Interactive Sessions Were a Hallmark of the GNEX 2011 Timeshare and Fractional Expo

Spirited debate and lively sessions were the foundation of Perspective Magazine’s inaugural Global Networking Expo.

Orlando, FL, May 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Throughout the two days of sessions during the GNEX 2011 timeshare and fractional expo, speakers and panelists were interacting with attendees in ways not often seen during industry functions.

Held during May 11-12, 2011, at the magnificent Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, GNEX 2011 saw industry associations from five continents give their support to the event as attendees from the USA, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Russia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and Australia examined creative new ways to grow their businesses.

The Burning Issues session stirred passions as panelists warned that the internet is poised to dominate timeshare sales and changes in business models are essential for companies to remain in business. “In five years, this product will be sold on the internet. If you’re not ready for that, you are out of business,” said panelist Rob Webb of the U.S. legal firm Baker Hostetler.

The international flavor of the Burning Issues panel was evident as industry representatives from the U.K. (Harry Taylor), Canada (Ross Perlmutter), Australia (Ramy Filo) and Thailand (Bryan Lunt) joined U.S. participants Jason Tremblay and Rob Webb for the 90 minute, Q&A panel.

Jim Madrid, President, Entelechy Training & Development, discussed the process that has allowed him to help top companies from around the world such as Nordstrom, Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Paramount Studios, Trendwest Resorts, St. Regis Hotel and Resort, ICE International Cruise and Excursions and Pueblo Bonito Resorts. Entitled “Snap Out Of It,” Madrid spoke about the need to equip people to deal with rapid, unpredictable change. “The times we are living in today are not challenging. It is a time of great change. Those that do not change… times like this become challenging,” said Madrid.

Fractional ownership panels were moderated by Dr. Richard Ragatz, who is globally recognized as the leading feasibility analyst and market researcher in the resort real estate industry. Dr. Ragatz provided his reasons for optimism that the fractional market, while not yet fully recovered, is on the way back.

Attendees were also treated to a very effective speed networking session that was one of the highlights of the conference, as participants had three minute time slots to make connections with the other participants in an industry version of “musical chairs.”

Thirty-four winners were announced during the inaugural Perspective Magazine Awards Gala dinner from nearly 150 nominees in a wide variety of categories such as Best Timeshare Resort, Best Technology Award and Best Industry Leader.
