Elgin, IL, May 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Following her mother and stepfather into residential real estate has paid off for Rachel Hausman, a sales associate with RE/MAX Experts in Buffalo Grove. This new agent took home the Rising Star award from the recent RE/MAX Northern Illinois 34th annual awards ceremony.

This important award is given each year to a rookie real estate agent (licensed less than 18 months) who produces outstanding sales results. Hausman’s closed transactions totaled approximately $10 million in 2010.

That success isn't surprising. Her mother, Andee Hausman, is among the top sales producers in the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network. She also co-owns RE/MAX Experts, one of the top offices in the network, in partnership with her husband and Rachel's stepfather, Jay Blessent, who won his own Rising Star award in 1990.

“Winning this award was very exciting for me,” Rachel Hausman said. "I’m proud of the achievement, and so are my mom and dad."

Hausman first earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and then took a job working at RE/MAX headquarters in Denver. It was there she first considered making residential real estate a career.

“Everyone at RE/MAX is family,” Hausman said. “And I'm using psychology every day by helping people solve problems and achieve their dreams when making the biggest financial decisions of their lives.”

Hausman didn’t pick the easiest time to enter the residential real estate market. After all, the housing industry has been suffering through a sales slump since 2007. Hausman, though, looks at her first 18 months in the business as a true test of her skills.

If she can sell houses today, Hausman believes she can sell them in any market.

“I’m pleased with how well I’ve done in this tough market,” she said. “I think the market is getting close to a recovery, and I’m looking forward to seeing how well I can do once that recovery really gets going.”

Hausman gives credit to her mother for providing her with invaluable lessons about the real estate business.

“I've learned a lot from my mom. She always taught me how important it is to be a good, honest person,” Hausman said. “You have to be honest with people if you want to help them.”
