Santa Ana, CA, May 28, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Nearly 1 in 3 Americans own a Smartphone according to a recent Nielsen study, so what better way to connect wine lovers to wine tasting rooms? Tasting411™ is a free web-app that makes locating a winery tasting room as close as your Smartphone browser.
Tasting411.com is actually a portal to 10 web-apps covering over 1,000 tasting rooms and wine bars in California (soon to include Oregon, Washington, and New York). Each regional app provides a map and allows the user to sort wine tasting rooms by name, Appellation, town, Varietals, picnic facilities and the all important discount coupon.
Once a tasting room is chosen, the wine lover on the go can automatically call or map a route to their next stop using their phone’s GPS. Users can vote on their favorite tasting rooms and share their likes with friends using all the social network connections.
The concept behind Tasting411™ comes from long time Napa wine lovers, Buttons and Ridgie Barton. “I love wine tasting, but after our first tasting room it was it was a challenge to agree on the next one. It was always a discussion (argument) on the road and a decision usually made after we’d passed it,” according to Buttons. “After developing mobile apps for our automotive clients I decided this technology would solve two of my major husband problems – asking directions and agreeing on the next stop.”
Using the web-app approach reduces problems the ever changing device operating systems cause device specific applications. Tasting411™ senses the device accessing the information and delivers preformatted content specific to that device. It is compatible with all smartphones (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, among others) and also delivers content formatted for tablets and desktop PCs.
Tasting411.com and all the regional web apps can be shared to other users using an imbedded QR Code. These fast growing Quick Release Codes also known as 2D scan codes are found on the home page of each application. Just display the code on the phone screen and let your friends use their smartphone scanner app to add its URL to their phone.
