Feed Our Vets Uses GreaterGood's Donation to Restock Shelves

Seattle, WA, May 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Since the launch of GreaterGood Network's newest website, The Veterans Site, in March, more than $20,000 has been contributed to programs providing meals for homeless veterans and groceries and other assistance for veterans and their families living below the poverty line.

In April, GreaterGood.org distributed grants to Feed Our Vets (New York), Veterans Village of San Diego (California), and Veteran’s Homestead (Massachusetts) to support programs providing meals to homeless veterans and their families. These donations were made possible by the “Click To Give” program and shopping at The Veterans Site.

"Our coffers have been running low lately, and we were forced to postpone our Mobile Pantry Unit from going to Watertown, NY. Nothing bothers Feed Our Vets more then knowing that we are letting our veterans down by not being able to provide the food they and their families need to survive," wrote Janel Couture, board member of Feed Our Vets, upon receiving their grant.

Feed Our Vets used their $10,000 grant from GreaterGood.org to restock their supplies. "This grant will ensure that we will be able to continue our mission to provide good, nutritious food to United States Veterans whose circumstances have left them on the battlefield of hunger. We can't begin to express how grateful Feed Our Vets is to the GreaterGood.org. The effect that this money will directly have on our veteran's lives is immeasurable," said Couture.

Since April, additional grants have been made to all three organizations.

When visitors click the blue “Click Here to Give – It’s Free” button on TheVeteransSite.com, it generates a donation from sponsoring advertisers to pay for meals for homeless veterans. One hundred percent of sponsor advertising is donated to TheVeteransSite.com’s charitable partners. Additional donations are created by every purchase made at The Veterans Site online store. The Veterans Site is the newest member of The GreaterGood Network of cause-related websites.
