Mother-Daughter Team from RE/MAX Plan June 19 Benefit in Libertyville to Aid Children's Hospitals

Elgin, IL, June 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Donna Radke and her daughter, Jennifer Radke, spend most Sundays showing homes to prospective buyers as part of their careers as sales associates at RE/MAX Center in Grayslake, Ill., but on Sunday, June 19, they are devoting their day to the cause of children’s health. That afternoon they are holding the 1st Annual Michelle Radke Benefit in Support of Children Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), an event they hope will become a fixture on the community calendar in central Lake County.

Slated to run from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., the benefit will be held at Austin’s Saloon and Eatery Fuel Room, 481 Peterson Road, Libertyville, Ill. It will feature music by two popular local bands, Left With Tomorrow and The Breakfast Club, along with silent and live auctions, raffles, prizes and pizza. A portion of the event will be broadcast live on WXLC (102.3 FM).

A small sampling of the items that will be auctioned includes a pig roast for 40-50 people with all the fixings, golf for four at Midlane Golf Club in Wadsworth, Ill., a RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon ride, six tickets to a Cubs game and a season pass for hockey at Glacier Ice Rink in Vernon Hills, Ill.

Those attending will be asked to make a $10 donation at the door, and everyone is welcome, children as well as adults. All funds raised at the event will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

The benefit serves as a memorial to Michelle Radke, the daughter of Donna Radke and sister of Jennifer. Michelle died at 29 in 1997 from complications of diabetes, which was first diagnosed when she was 2 years old.

“We’ve long wanted to do something like this to help other children and their families facing the same kind of challenges that we confronted with Michelle,” said Donna Radke.

“Jennifer felt the loss of her older sister especially deeply and has spearheaded this effort. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have changed the face of care and given all children facing all illness the hope of a brighter future.”

The following is a tentative schedule for the event:

12:30 p.m. – doors open
1 to 2 p.m. – Music by Left With Tomorrow
2 to 2:30 p.m. – The Radkes and another family will share personal stories about children with major medical challenges.
2:30 to 3 p.m. – Raffle drawings and silent auction results
3 to 4 p.m. – Music by The Breakfast Club
4 to 5 p.m. – Live auction and raffle drawings
5 to 6:30 p.m. – Music by The Breakfast Club

Plans for next year’s Michelle Radke Benefit are already underway, and the date has been set for June 10, 2012.

RE/MAX is the exclusive real estate sponsor of CMNH, an organization that provides funds to more than 170 children’s hospitals in the United States and Canada. Nearly all funds raised by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network for CMNH go to Children’s Memorial Hospital. Last year RE/MAX contributed $124,331 to the hospital.
