Leesburg, FL, July 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The 2009 Florida Collegiate Summer League Champion, Leesburg Lightning, are well on their way to another title contention. Boast an impressive 12-5 record so far this season, the Lightning sit just one game behind the Diamond Dawgs (12-3).

The Florida Collegiate Summer League, founded in 2003, is a summer, wood bat baseball league. The league provides college players the opportunity to play wood bat baseball against top-level competition over the summer in the hopes of preparing them for the major leagues.

The league is one of eight that is affiliated with the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball, which operates under the guidance of the NCAA. The organization is primarily dependent on donations from individuals and business, like Plaza Cadillac.

The Florida League has been recognized by Baseball American as one of the best summer leagues in the country, but all of this would not be possible were it not for the support of the community and the fans.

All of the games are played at night, for the players benefit, but also to provide affordable, family friendly summer entertainment. Please join Plaza Cadillac’s family and friends on game nights for a fun, family-friendly environment, and support the Leesburg Lightning players.
