The Art of Jonas Lynch Premiers at the Rock and Roll Emporium Collectors Gallery for Surf City Nights July 12, 2011

Huntington Beach, CA, July 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Join artist Jonas Lynch for a live-painting performance and exhibition of his collection of mixed media fine art Tuesday, July 12, 2011. The opening reception takes place from 5p-9p at Surf City Nights at The Rock and Roll Emporium Collectors Gallery, 205 Main Street in Huntington Beach, CA 92648.

Jonas Lynch was born in Wheatridge, Colorado on June 11, 1980, but was raised in Northwest Iowa. It was when Jonas was 9 years old that he found his love with art, starting with subjects that evolved around professional sports. When he was 18, Jonas moved to Long Beach California to attend Brooks College for graphic design. After graduating, Jonas designed apparel for many NCAA universities and all four branches of the military.

In 2005, Jonas became more a live-painting performance artist performing for Al Howard & the K23 Orchestra, which led him to other design work for local concert venues and finally his signature style of high-contrast portraits utilizing recycled telephone book clippings as the background for musicians and other iconic figures. The concept of his work is that these particular figures are who they are because of the people behind them…hence the people in the phone book become the image of the artist.

Every time Jonas gets a chance to meet an artist that moves him, he paints two of the same portrait of that artist. He gives one to the artist as a gift, and the second is signed by the artist and put into his collection of autographed portraits which now includes such greats as: George Clinton, Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg, and many more.

“I am especially excited about the art of Jonas Lynch because not only do his works fit right in with our Rock Art collection, he is doing a live-painting performance at the opening reception,” said Andrew Kirby managing partner of The Rock and Roll Emporium. “I don’t know what the subject of the live-painting art piece will be, but I am looking forward to witnessing a piece of original fine art being completed right there at the reception.”
