City of Waltham Awards Radio Solutions Public Safety Communications Contract

The state of the art simulcast communications system is one of the first in the nation to combine both analog and new P25 digital IP based technologies together on the same network, increasing interoperability for firefighters, police officers and dispatchers.

Norwell, MA, July 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The city of Waltham, Massachusetts recently awarded Radio Solutions, Inc. the contract for a P25 digital / analog simulcast public safety radio system. The state of the art simulcast communications system is one of the first in the nation to combine both analog and new P25 digital IP based technologies together on the same network, increasing interoperability for firefighters, police officers and dispatchers.

Radio Solutions, Inc. fully met the city of Waltham's specifications for a dual mode two-way radio system with built in redundancy and no single points of failure, by utilizing Tait's state of the art TB9100 series base stations. Waltham's new system can detect failures, instantly report a problem, and
take corrective action to heal itself by switching to redundant link paths and equipment, making it probably the most advanced public safety communications system on the market today.

The awarded bid to Radio Solutions ensures that communications in the city of Waltham will continue to work with analog radios used by surrounding communities while at the same time offering full benefits of the new state of the art P25 digital technology. The radio system is designed to be independent of leased circuits such as public phone lines which increases reliability of the system, meeting or exceeding the specifications proposed by the city of Waltham's officials.

The 4-channel, 6-site P25 multimode simulcast communications network utilizes the latest wireless broadband technology and gains capacity that lends itself to be used by other town departments. The fully redundant network design eliminates any single points of failure ensuring more reliable communications for the first responders and E911 center. The radio system will be aided by unique self-healing and trouble reporting features that alert dispatchers and technicians if there is a problem with the system.
