Bristol, RI, March 24, 2007 --(PR.com
)-- Mequoda Group announced the release of the Mequoda Blog 100, a list of the top 100 media blogs in the country.
The rankings are based on monthly unique visitor counts, generated by Compete, a free online traffic tracking service. Websites that host multiple blogs have their unique visitor counts aggregated across the publication.
This month’s results can be seen at http://daily.mequoda.com/top100/blogs-jan07.html, which also displays several other statistics used by advertisers and publishers when determining the price of a website’s advertising.
“The rapid rise of blogs from the mainstream media companies validates the importance of the format. As blogs become more a part of the mainstream media, it is important to track who they are and how fast they're growing,” said Mequoda Group Chief Information Architect and Managing Director Don Nicholas.
“Blogging is a dramatic contrast to the process of writing, editing, proofing and layout that has dominated print journalism for decades. Print journalists can now compete with broadcasts on extremely time sensitive topics and win. This will have a wide reaching impact for all the media and the way consumers gather and process information,” Nicholas said.
Mequoda Group and Compete will be continually monitoring over 300 of America's most popular media blogs and reporting to their readers their average unique page visitors, page views per user, sessions per user, time spent per user and monthly ranking.
Anyone wishing to submit a blog to be monitored by Mequoda should send it to Blog100@mequoda.com for addition to their database.
The Mequoda Group helps publishers create effective and profitable websites. Their in-depth research and best practice guidelines are made available through free mail newsletters, a blog, special reports, case studies, a membership website, webinars, live events and professional services.
