BJA’s Denise O’Donnell to Speak at Public Safety/Homeland Security Event

New Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance to speak at IJIS Institute’s Industry Briefing.

Ashburn, VA, July 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security, is proud to announce that the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s recently appointed Director, Denise O’Donnell will be a featured speaker at this month’s IJIS Institute 2011 Summer Industry. The event will be held July 29-30 in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Director O’Donnell was sworn in by Attorney General Eric Holder on June 6, 2011, as the Justice Department’s Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The BJA Director advises and assists the Attorney General and the Department of Justice in formulating and implementing departmental policies and programs to better support state, local and tribal law enforcement across the country.

O’Donnell’s work as the U.S. Attorney under the Clinton administration has been complimented over the past decade with service as the Deputy Secretary for Public Safety and on the Criminal Justice Council of the New York City Bar Association. She has also taught at SUNY Buffalo Law School and regularly lectured with the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Education.

The IJIS Institute Summer Industry Briefing presents an authoritative update on the justice, public safety, and homeland security IT market, and offers a detailed look at information sharing and national initiatives that impact our nation’s safety and security.
