Cincinnati’s Newest Microbrewery to Open in October

Cincinnati, OH, July 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Cincinnati’s brewing history is rich with stories of residents turning their love for a finely crafted brew into a thriving business. That is exactly what Double Barrel Brewery plans to do.

The new microbrewery will be located at 4720 Eastern Avenue next to Bella Luna and the famed Terry’s Turf Club. They will open their doors on October 1st, pending final government approval. The plan is to produce an array of beers that Cincinnati can be proud of and distribute via Kegs to local bars and restaurants. The building has sat empty for years until the brewery owners got a hold of it with hopes of making a comfortable place for patrons and brewers alike. They will use the back 1,000 square feet as dry grain storage and have a 400 square foot walk-in freezer for keg storage in addition to a large brew house, test-kitchen and tasting bar. The facility on Eastern Avenue will have periodic tastings open to the public and free of charge.

The breweries owners, Greg Brown, Charles Boucher and Sean Smith are proud to have had most of their 30 barrel brewhouse built right here in Cincinnati by the skilled hands of Mike Beiser and his team at Accurate Mechanical. The brew system is capable of producing just less than 1,000 gallons of beer per brew cycle, which is equivalent to about 62 US kegs. They will hit the market with 2 mass-market beers and a number of special run brews available at festivals and a few select beer-loving bars. Their flagship beer is Bad Tom Ale - a hop-induced version of an Irish Red. It will be accompanied by the ever-popular India Pale Ale.

Greg Brown, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Double Barrel Brewery noted, “Ohio and specifically Cincinnati is fairly under-served by locally owned microbreweries compared to the retail sales of craft beer. It is obvious that we love and yearn for great beer – why not buy local?”

Cincinnati is ready for more beer and Double Barrel is ready to meet that need.
