Job Fair Coming to Modesto with Community Business College Workshops

College will be donating free resume reviews and providing speakers for three timely workshop sessions for the unemployed.

Modesto, CA, July 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Community Business College has partnered with the Job Journal to provide free resume reviews and three free seminars for the unemployed at the HireEvents job fair in Modesto on Tuesday, July 26th from Noon - 4pm at the Modesto Centre Plaza at 10th & K Streets. People attending the fair are encouraged to dress as they would for job interviews and to allow extra time to get individual resume recommendations from professional resume developers and also to get great resume tips.

The time is right for a job fair in Modesto. With the recent EDD market data report showing the Stanislaus County unemployment rate at 16.7%, the employment situation seem to be as tough as ever for job seekers. And yet, despite the gloomy unemployment figures, there are signs of positive activity.
Four new businesses have started to open up within a mile of the Community Business College campus with hundreds of new jobs being created.

This job fair will feature other employers who are hiring and will also offer free workshops with some exceptionally timely topics:

1:00 PM – EDD and Unemployment Insurance Changes

From new policies to paying recipients with debit cards, big changes are in the works at the California Unemployment Insurance Department. Now is the time for people to get the most from their unemployment insurance benefits. This will be a 1-hour workshop. Working with the Unemployment Insurance program can be challenging and this workshop will help people learn what it takes to get through it all.

2:00 PM – Crazy Interview Questions: What to Do When You Get Stumped

When the pressure is on during the job interview, it's easy to get thrown off. This free workshop helps job seekers prepare themselves for those curve ball questions that can mess up an interview. What’s the best answer to the question, “if you were a cookie, what kind of cookie would you be and why?” and, “what’s your greatest weakness?” How long should you talk when asked “tell me about yourself?” This workshop will also cover ways to prepare yourself for any interview question that might come your way.

3:00 PM – Job Searching On the Web: Looking for Real Jobs in a Virtual World

This will be a free workshop for job seekers and will provide you with the techniques for a changing world of finding a job. From finding the right job to applying and even interviewing, this workshop covers how to use the Internet to the advantage of the job seekers. Employers are using the Internet more and more to promote their job openings and to automate some of the hiring process. Now, more than ever, it’s important to use all the tools available to find the right job. Today it’s become easier than ever to apply for jobs but it’s also more challenging than ever to cover all the bases. This seminar provides tips on how to do it.

Videos of the seminars will be posted on the College’s YouTube channel after the conclusion of the job fair.

Admission to the job fair, the workshop and the resume review area are free.
