Myriad Media Establishes New Environmental Initiative

Myriad Media developed a new environmental plan to reduce its carbon footprint.

Raleigh, NC, July 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Myriad Media, a Raleigh film and video production firm, recently implemented a new environmental management system that will decrease the company’s carbon footprint and allow employees to track, monitor and improve Myriad’s environmental performance.

This program evolved from IBM’s progressive environmental business model, which promotes corporate responsibility, measurement and tracking, environmental and safety compliance with the law, and public disclosure. IBM focuses on the importance of cascading these values to its suppliers. This has encouraged Myriad Media to follow in IBM’s footsteps toward a cleaner, safer, healthier and more sustainable world. Myriad Media hopes that it can continue this cycle by teaching its employees and customers how to improve their current environmental goals and objectives.

The current environmental steps in place at Myriad Media include:

- A comprehensive recycling program that includes the collection of plastics, glass, paper, cardboard, paperboard and any other material accepted by the City of Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Exclusive use of compact fluorescent light bulbs.
- Proper disposal of hazardous materials such as batteries, paint, light bulbs and expired equipment.
- A concerted policy of reduction in the purchase of equipment and goods.
- The recent completion of a documentary film promoting sustainable farming and the reduction of slash and burn agriculture. The film was produced pro bono for 4-star rated charity Sustainable Harvest International (http://www.sustainableharvest.org).
- Use of recycled paper stock and vegetable or soy based inks in their professionally printed collateral.
- Use of 100% recycled printer and copy paper.
- Use of environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.
- Setting computers and monitors to “energy saving” mode.

The new environmental initiative has many advantages. In addition to helping the environment, the new plan will also raise employee awareness of the energy being used daily.

Will Feichter, president of Myriad Media, stated that, “This is the kind of program that benefits everyone. It’s a win for the environment, our company, our vendors, our clients and employees.”
