European Translation Industry Expert, Karl-Johan Lönnroth, to Contribute to Common Sense Advisory’s Research Projects

The former Director-General at the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission will cover multilingual workforce development, economics of linguistic diversity, and the European market for the independent research firm.

Helsinki, Finland, July 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Market research firm Common Sense Advisory announces Karl-Johan (Juhani) Lönnroth will participate in the firm’s research initiatives as a contributing analyst. Mr. Lönnroth is a highly accomplished consultant and author with a long experience of international cooperation involving the Nordic countries, OECD, UN, ILO, and bilateral cooperation in Eastern Europe. As a contributing analyst, he will cover multilingual workforce development, economics of linguistic diversity, and the European market for the independent research firm.

Previously, Mr. Lönnroth served as the Director-General, Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission, the largest public language service in the world. Mr. Lönnroth began his career at the Secretariat of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 1973 where he participated extensively in the development of state administration and cross-sectoral cooperation within labor, employment, social, educational, and economic policies. Having worked within the Finnish Ministry of Labor until 1991 he went on to become Director at the ILO in Geneva. In 1996 he joined the European Commission as Director in the Directorate-General for Employment and Social Affairs, becoming Deputy Director-General in 2000 and Director General of Directorate-General for Translation at the Commission in 2004.
