GWBC® Teams up with Billion Dollar Woman-Owned Business and WNBA Team Owner at 6th Annual Power of Partnering Marketplace

Atlanta, GA, July 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Women Business Enterprises will have an opportunity to expand their business network and learn smart business practices from two industry leading executives, Lynn Tilton, CEO of Patriarch Partners and Kathy Betty, Owner of the Atlanta Dream at GWBC’s Annual Power of Partnering Marketplace. The two-day event features the WAVE Golf Scholarship Tournament at Country Club of Roswell on August 29 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and the POP Marketplace at the Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on August 30. GWBC® will close out the day cheering on the Atlanta Dream at their basketball game versus the Indiana Fever at Phillips Arena.

According to GWBC® Executive Director, Roz Lewis, “This year’s POP Marketplace Event is slated to be a sellout. GWBC® is proud to provide WBENC certification in three of the Top 10 states for the fastest growing number of women-owned businesses. Georgia is the number one leader, followed by North Carolina at number five and South Carolina at number eight.”

Tilton, POP’s Luncheon Keynote Speaker, has bought more than 150 companies and has saved over 250,000 jobs. She is known for her passion for being a proponent of saving America’s manufacturing jobs by saving American companies. WBEs will benefit from her experience on becoming the largest woman-owned business in America with over 120,000 employees and annual revenues of more than $8 billion spread across Patriarch’s 75 portfolio companies.

Tilton added, “I am honored to participate in such a prestigious event that supports female owned businesses. Women are starting businesses today at twice the rate of men, therefore women really are the entrepreneurial engine that will help drive America forward in the future. I am proud to participate in this dynamic change, especially as it relates to keeping manufacturing alive in our country. America must be the maker of things if we are to remain the most powerful country on earth.”

Betty is slated as the Opening Plenary Speaker and has more than 25 years of business and management consultancy experience. She formed the first all-female ownership group in Atlanta pro sports and was recorded as one of the most successful seasons for a rookie owner last year as the Dream won the Eastern Conference Championship and advanced to the WNBA Finals.

“I am excited to be part of GWBC’s effort to promote and develop female leadership within the business sector,” said Betty. “As owner of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, I realize the importance of building a strong network for women in business. I am grateful for the support that Atlanta’s businesswomen have given me personally and am looking forward to sharing my experiences with other female business leaders.”

WBEs will also have the opportunity to network with major corporations like Georgia Power, this year’s event Marketplace Sponsor. “At Georgia Power we firmly believe in growing and developing women-owned businesses as they are critical partners in our supply chain,” said Bryan Fletcher, Southern Company vice president supply chain management. “We are proud to partner with the GWBC and to be the Marketplace Sponsor for this event.”

The POP Marketplace will also provide WBEs with an opportunity to network with government members, and other WBEs and to discuss procurement opportunities. Over 300 attendees are expected from Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. For registration and more information, please visit www.GWBCPOPMarketplace.biz.
