Blanket America Presents New TAG 2 WIN Facebook Contest Giving Away Blankets and More

Charitable manufacturer Blanket America is holding regular TAG 2 WIN giveaways on Facebook offering an assortment of prizes including cotton sheet set kits, window treatments, blankets and throws.

New York, NY, July 29, 2011 --( Textile manufacturer Blanket America has created a new TAG 2 WIN contest for its Facebook fans to promote both its social media presence and BUY 1, GIVE 1 charity model; for every product purchased on, the company donates an American blanket to a person in need.

The new TAG 2 WIN competition is simple: Blanket America regularly posts product photos on labeled TAG 2 WIN, and fans can enter to win the featured products by tagging themselves in the images and commenting on each corresponding post. At the end of each giveaway, Blanket America chooses a winner at random and announces the fan on the TAG 2 WIN post.

“We’ve found this promotion a great way to engender fan interaction on our Facebook page and promote awareness about our BUY 1, GIVE 1 model. We’re thrilled that our fans have shown such enthusiasm for the contest - the more people we can inform and educate, the better,” said Mesh Gelman, founder of Blanket America.

So far, each TAG 2 WIN post has received anywhere from 20 to 50 comments and about 40 tags. Prizes have ranged from the 300 Thread Count Tivoli Pillowcase Set, retailed at $40, to the Ma Maison Sienna 8-piece Comforter Set, which holds an MSRP of $180. Blanket America also recently gave away one of its fleece blankets, the Blanket America Star Spangled Blanket, which has a retail price of $50. To stay in line with consumer preferences, the company habitually polls its fans to see what items they would like to see given away next.

This isn’t the first such contest Blanket America has run on its Facebook page. Earlier this year, the company ran a scavenger-hunt style contest on Facebook, providing users with a daily hint to help users discover a hidden Blanket America heart on The first user to find the product page where the heart was hidden won that product in the size and color of their choice.

“We love getting our fans involved with what we’re doing, and our Facebook page seems to be the most logical way to do it. Right now we have upwards of 155,000 fans - that’s over 155,000 people who are aware of Blanket America and our BUY 1, GIVE 1 program,” said Gelman.
