)-- Terraine has begun beta testing of a new product called ezCoC™, an electronic chain of custody (CoC) preparation system. ezCoC™ is based on the premise of software-as-a-service, which means that anyone with a computer or mobile phone and a connection to the Internet can use the system.
Environmental scientists can use ezCoC™ to create a CoC form entirely online. Most analytical methods are already loaded into the system, as well as commercial and non-commercial labs across the country. CoC forms can be sent electronically to the lab or printed and signed as usual. Costly transcription errors will become a thing of the past, and both parties will have access to up-to-date information on the submitted samples. Labs can even create their cooler receipt forms online.
“We are extremely excited to announce the release of ezCoC™ to environmental firms and laboratories. When our goal is to work toward cleaning up the environment, filling out forms in triplicate and continuing to accumulate boxes of paperwork is a contradictory and stagnant practice. Moving forward with ezCoC™ will not only help field techs and consultants complete their work more efficiently and accurately, it will also help laboratories plan ahead and reduce headaches during the sample login process. It’s time for the environmental sector to truly reduce – to stop wasting time and money, to stop wasting paper and toner, and to implement environmentally friendly practices like ezCoC™.” – Karen Baer, LRS / Vice President of Terraine, Inc.
