California Bankers Association Publishes “A Call To Arms To Protect Our Seniors” by the Edcomm Group’s Dr. Linda Eagle

New York, NY, March 31, 2007 --(PR.com)-- California Bankers Association (CBA), the largest banking trade association, has published “A Call to Arms to Protect Our Seniors” by Dr. Linda Eagle, president of The Edcomm Group.

Edcomm, a New York-based firm specializing in training for banking and financial services, is at the forefront of training banks, credit unions and money services businesses on identifying and combating elder financial abuse. Through Banker’s Academy (www.bankersacademy.com), Edcomm offers Focus on Financial Elder Abuse, an eLearning program that teaches bank employees to recognize the signs of elder financial abuse and protect their elderly customers and the bank with accurate reporting. Focus on California Elder Financial Abuse includes specific training on California’s new law, SB 1018.

The Edcomm Group partnered with CBA in September 2006 in an effort to combat elder financial abuse and deliver training to banks in California. California is at the forefront of protecting its elderly customers and has played a large role in elevating elder financial abuse to a national issue.

With more than 5 million cases per year, elder financial abuse is the number one crime committed against persons age 65 and older.

Elder financial abuse is defined as the illegal taking, misuse or concealment of funds, property or assets of elders, through trickery, intimidation or force, or without consent. Elder financial abuse can involve anything from a telemarketer's solicitation on behalf of a fake charity to a family member's misuse of power of attorney.

Dr. Eagle is frequently invited to speak on a range of topics including compliance training, systems training, teller training, ethics training, and technological advances in training and education. Published in many national publications including USA Today, American Banker, Forbes, MSNBC and the Washington Post, she has also appeared on several local and national radio and television news programs.

The California Bankers Association (CBA) was founded in 1891 and represents over300 banks in California, including commercial banks, loan companies and savings institutions. CBA’s interests are far ranging, from agri-business to consumer lending, small businesses to international development.

The Edcomm Group is a 20-year-old multimedia education and communication consulting firm specializing in the development of creative business solutions that improve productivity, customer service and market share - providing bottom-line results.
