)-- A Workout for St. Jude event organized by Achieve Fitness will power up on Saturday September 17th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Danehy Park in Cambridge to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. St. Jude is the top children’s cancer hospital in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.
“Every child saved at St. Jude means children saved around the world - a direct result of cutting-edge research and treatment that set the standard in treating deadly childhood diseases,” said Tony Conz, co-owner of Achieve Fitness and the coordinator of the event. “Through events like Work Out for St. Jude, Cambridge supports the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children everywhere.”
This volunteer-based “Workout for St. Jude” program will feature a series of various family friendly fitness related events, such as potato sack races, relay races, and pushup contests. Participants will be sponsored by friends, family and coworkers and will raise money based on how many events they participate in. For more information on the program please visit www.AchieveFitness-MA.com.
St. Jude depends on community-based fundraising programs like Workout for St. Jude. At St. Jude, families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance and no child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay. The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $1.5 million, which is primarily covered by public contributions.
