Mom Blogs Two Years of Time Outs: The Epic Time Out Journey

Six-year-old Jake takes time outs to a whole 'nother level. His capacity for getting into trouble is boundless, and an endless source of entertainment for loved ones. For years, every time his mother regaled someone with the boy’s latest adventure, the invariable response was, “God, I hope you're writing this stuff down.” Hence, the birth of The Epic Time Out Journey blog: http://theepictimeoutjourney.com/

Bakersfield, CA, September 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- A time out is a discipline technique that involves placing children in a boring place for a few minutes following unacceptable behavior. The idea is to (a) withhold attention, thereby discouraging the child’s attention-seeking behavior, and (b) remove a furious parent from a stressful encounter, thereby saving the child’s life.

Six-year-old Jake takes time outs to a whole 'nother level. His capacity for getting into trouble is boundless, and an endless source of entertainment for friends and family. For years, every time his mother regaled someone with her son’s latest adventure, the invariable response was, “God, I hope you're writing this stuff down.”

And so, by popular demand, Courtenay Edelhart began The Epic Time Out Journey project. Since December 2009, she has been photographing Jake doing time in corners and explaining the transgression du jour in expanded photo captions that are posted on a blog: TheEpicTimeOutJourney.com.

It is her intention to continue documenting Jake’s time outs until he outgrows them or she dies of a heart attack, whichever comes first.

Given her son’s devotion to mischief, the blog should be around a while.

Please consider mentioning the project in any stories about amusing parenting blogs, or in upcoming lists of websites for silly, mindless diversion. Courtenay is using profits from the site to supplement her son's college fund. Public humiliation is a small price to pay for a college education.
