"Walk Into Your Purpose" – 5K Run/Walk and Health Expo Announced
Are You Ready to Walk Into Your Purpose?
Fernandina Beach, FL, September 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Women of Power, a subsidiary of LaVerne Mitchell Ministries is pleased to announce plans for their Inaugural 5K Race and Health Expo. This event will be held in Fernandina Beach, Florida on the beautiful Amelia Island on November 12, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. The race headquarters will be located at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center at 2500 Atlantic Avenue Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
The proceeds from this event are to benefit the work of Women of Power and the most recent WOP Project, Cedar Haven Transitional House.
The Cedar Haven Transitional house was created to assist women that have been challenged by homelessness in Nassau County with stays of up to 180 days in an effort to assist them towards permanent housing.
Women of Power is an organization committed to improving the quality of life for women and children in Nassau County, Florida. Women of Power seek to provide opportunities for community and professional education, empowerment, inspiration, and motivation for direction and purpose in the lives of women and children.
The 5K Run/Walk and Health Expo will also serve as Women of Power’s way to bring awareness to a growing health crisis, diabetes. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and Women of Power wants to provide their event participants with information about how to take charge of their health and wellness.
Board Member, Shakira R. Thompson of Orlando, Florida states, “The race is one small way that everyone can rally their support behind the efforts of Women of Power and Cedar Haven. The face of homelessness has changed dramatically within recent years and I’m proud that Women of Power has purposefully taken on the challenge to rehabilitate the homeless into home owners.”
The 5K Race/Walk will be filled with family centered excitement and activities that people of all ages will be able to enjoy.
First Coast Community Bank where Chip Townsend is the CEO and President has enlisted to become a sponsor of the upcoming race. There are several levels of sponsorship still available for this spectacular event, contact us for more information.
Registration for the race is now open and available at www.active.com and Current Running located at 815 S 8th Street Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034. The race is open to men and women and the registration fee is $20 before November 4, 2011 and $25 thereafter. The race registration will close 30 minutes before the race begins.
