John Isner and Sam Querrey Announce the 2nd Annual Crown BMW Charity Challenge

Greensboro, NC, September 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Tennis Stars John Isner and Sam Querrey today announced the 2nd Annual “Crown BMW Charity Challenge hosted by John Isner and Sam Querrey” event will be held at the historic Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, NC, on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19, 2011. Proceeds from the event will benefit UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Conejo & Las Virgenes.

Isner and Querrey will kick-off the event with a celebrity golf pro-am on Friday, November 18 followed by an evening celebration featuring an auction, live music, and a Carolina-style BBQ dinner. On Saturday, November 19, the tennis duo will host a special youth clinic and tennis exhibition. Local country clubs will have the opportunity to compete in a tournament for a chance to play against John and Sam in the championship match.

“Crown BMW is thrilled to partner with John and Sam to support UNC Lineberger’s efforts to battle cancer,” said Crown BMW General Manager Bill Annear. “UNC Lineberger is a wonderful facility that has helped so many people in our community, and John Isner is a fantastic role model to many Greensboro residents.”

Currently ranked # 22 on the ATP Tour, Isner has reached new heights in the summer of 2011. Isner’s achievements include winning his 100th career tour-level match and capturing titles at both the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport and the Winston-Salem Open in his hometown state of North Carolina. Additionally, Isner reached the finals in Atlanta and the semifinals in Washington, DC. Isner’s thriving career has also included winning the NCAA Singles Championship title with the University of Georgia in 2007, winning the longest match in the history of professional tennis at Wimbledon in 2010, and being a member of the United States Davis Cup team for the past two years.

"UNC Lineberger has done so much for my mother and my family. It’s important for me to support this cause in any way possible so that Lineberger can continue searching for a cure to cancer and help other patients battling the disease,” says Isner. “I would love to see people come out and support this great cause at our event.”

Sam Querrey ended 2010 on a very strong note, winning four career titles and finishing in the Top 20 for the first time. He earned his first career grass court title in 2010 at Queen’s beating Mardy Fish. In 2011, Querrey had a quarterfinal showing in Memphis and a third round appearance in Indian Wells. Together, Isner and Querrey have been a very successful doubles team defeating the No. 3 seeds Bhupathi/Paes en route to winning the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Rome title earlier this year. In 2011, Isner/Querrey also reached the final in Houston and semifinals in Madrid. Querrey believes in the Boys & Girls Clubs core values of inspiring youth to reach their full potential, so he has designated the Boys & Girls Clubs of Conejo & Las Virgenes near his hometown of Thousand Oaks, California as the second beneficiary.

Tickets for the 2nd Annual “Crown BMW Charity Challenge hosted by John Isner and Sam Querrey” are expected to go on sale in mid-September. Ticket sales and other event information are available at https://crownbmwchallenge.org.
