Philadelphia, PA, September 23, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Paul Logan, CRNP, President of Logan Solutions
, was interviewed for an article titled "Technology Listens as Doctors Keep Talking: How Speech Recognition Software is Changing So Doctors Don't Have To" in the September 22 issue of Technology Review.
The article discusses the value of voice recognition software for improving clinical documentation and the development of clinical language understanding (CLU), a technology that aims to revolutionize the way health care providers use EMR. When Nuance's CLU product is released, health care providers will simply dictate their findings as they are accustomed to doing, then the CLU engine will convert the text into structured data and enter it into the EMR, where it will be reportable. Additionally, the system will prompt providers to enter more complete data for proper coding.
"CLU is the next step in healthcare's electronic revolution," says Logan. "It will speed data entry, improve coding compliance and ease the transition to the upcoming ICD-10 standard. Automating the process of structured data entry will allow healthcare providers and organizations to access and report their clinical data, rather than relying exclusively on coding data."
