RAFI Holds 3rd Run of Kabataan, Kultura ug Kabilin Heritage Tour

To provide the youth expanded learning on cultures from different periods by visiting local museums, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) held the third run of its Kabataan, Kultura ug Kabilin (KKK) Heritage Tour last Sept. 24.

Cebu City, Philippines, September 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The event was initiated in partnership with the Cebu City Government and University of San Carlos-Department of Anthropology, Sociology and History (USC-DASH).

Close to 2,000 students from the University of San Carlos joined and visited nine museums (Casa Gorordo Museum, Museo Parian sa Sugbo, University of Southern Philippines Foundation Rizal Museum, Cathedral Museum of Cebu, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño Museum, Fort San Pedro, Museo Sugbo, Cebu Normal University Museum, and Rizal Library and Museum) and 12 historic public sites (Old Parian District, Colon Street, Plaza Hamabar, Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, Magellan’s Cross, Plaza Independencia, Osmeña Boulevard, Fuente Osmeña, Plaza Parian, Malacañang of the South, and the port area in Cebu City) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The student participants wore Filipiniana-inspired costumes as they explored the city’s heritage sites. Special awards were given for the best male, female, and group costumes during the Culminating Program. RAFI also reserved prizes for winners of best photo and essay about KKK who will be announced on Oct. 6.

Segments of the heritage route were designated for walking, tartanilla and bus rides. Volunteer students from USC-DASH and RAFI’s partner barangays acted as guides to ensure the smooth flow of the tour.

KKK is patterned after the Gabii sa Kabilin organized every May by RAFI.
