)-- NAFM will be attending the 2011 PACK EXPO Las Vegas from September 26-28, 2011. They will be showcasing their LX-500 high-speed, in-line shrink labeling machine with heavy duty construction. NAFM will exhibit alongside the 1,600 exhibitors PACK EXPO Las Vegas brings out yearly.
NAFM’s PACK EXPO location will be at Booth C550 in Central Hall where they will be displaying and demonstrating how the LX-500 is equipped with dual unwind system allowing continued operation with a brief splicing stop and how the shrink labeling or neck-banding operates up to 500 CPM on a single head “Bullet” technology.
"NAFM attends PACK EXPO every year and we are proud to highlight the most advanced shrink sleeve labeling machines and shrink tunnels for your production lines," said Jacek Zdzienicki, NAFM VP Sales & Marketing.
For a more technical look at the LX-500 machine and its capabilities, the roll of material is pulled on to a floating bullet (mandrel) by a set of drive rollers and driven by a servo-motor. The drive rollers provide an accurate intermittent advance of the label material, controlled by a photo-eye sensor reading each impression.
A set of six (typical) rotating blades cut the label as it stops momentarily on the bullet, then drive rollers slides the label further down on to the container. At this point, the label is in specific shape (cylindrical, oval, square, rectangle) given by the bullet (mandrel), and aligned precisely to the container for smooth transfer.
A timing screw or a spacing wheel can be provided for separation and alignment of the containers to coincide with the label transfer. After the labels are applied, containers to coincide with the label transfer. After the labels are applied, containers may have to go through a label brush down device to make certain that the bottom of the labels are flush against the conveyor surface.
LX-500 is microprocessor controlled (PLC) and is equipped with a touch-screen control panel (HMI).
The size change-over is simple and quick. The cut length can be changed electronically by touching the control panel. For different diameter, a new set of timing screw and bullet (mandrel) are installed. Different bottle height is accommodated by raising or lowering the machine by motorized hoisting mechanism.
A demonstration will be displayed at the PACK EXPO Las Vegas at NAFM booth C550.
NAFM is headquartered in Anaheim, California, designs, engineers and manufactures Shrink Sleeve Labeling machines and complete lines of Shrink Tunnels and product-handling systems. NAFM has been in operation for 55 years and today the company has become a dynamic partner for its customers, creating harmonious synergies of mechanical and electronic engineering in container handling, label application and shrink finishing.
While NAFM offers most advanced high-speed labelers with the speeds in excess of 600 cpm, its line-up includes machines for entry-level models for the first-timers as well as the medium output segment.
As a global operator, NAFM manufactures its machines and components mostly in their contract facilities in Yokohama, Japan, Taipei and Chiayi, Taiwan. Every item is specified by NAFM’s engineers and fabricated to its strict US standards. All machines are brought over to its Orange County facility for final assembly, testing, FAT and customer training. We consider this as a commencement to the new life of our machines in our customer’s production line.
