Sub Zero Announce Grand Opening in Federal Way, Washington

Federal Way, WA, October 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Sub Zero Ice Cream and Yogurt announced its Grand Opening celebration for Thursday, October 6th.

Sub Zero Ice Cream was started under the direction of founder, Jerry Hancock. Hancock wanted an ice cream shop where customers would have limitless options. Each serving of Sub Zero Ice Cream is made to order: selecting a quality premium, low-fat, custard-style, non-fat yogurt, or lactose-free base; adding one or more of 40+ flavors; choosing any of more than 20 mix-ins; and—as customers watch—flash freezing it with liquid nitrogen.

"Sub Zero Ice Cream not only provides delicious ice cream, but brings a concept that is entertaining and educational and draws people from throughout the area to Federal Way," Owner, Jack Walsh said. "Every serving of ice cream is made to order and flash frozen with 321-degree-below-zero liquid nitrogen right in front of the customer."

Walsh and his family are 27-year residents of Federal Way. Since his first experience with Sub Zero Ice Cream, Walsh knew it was a treat he had to bring home to share with the rest of Federal Way community.

"When I first visited a Sub Zero store a year ago, I knew that I wanted to bring home the wonderful quality and customization that is Sub Zero Ice Cream," Walsh said. "Since that time my family and I have worked tirelessly to get the franchise rights, secure a lease in a top-quality shopping center, build a beautiful facility and train a great staff."

Sub Zero has been opened in Federal Way since mid-September, but extended their grand opening date, to allow the staff to be fully trained. The business has created jobs for 16 part-time employees.

"Hundreds of people from Federal Way and as far away as Seattle and Olympia have already visited us," Walsh said. "We are heartened by the response of the community."

Sub Zero Ice Cream is also able to travel off-site with portable liquid nitrogen tanks to cater and weddings, corporate events and other occasions. In addition, this Sub Zero location also serves gourmet coffee, roasted locally by Poverty Bay Coffee Company.

Federal Way Mayor Skip Priest, will be in attendance to cut the grand opening ribbon at 11:30 a.m., free samples of ice cream will be provided throughout the afternoon and evening.
