New App Turns Android Phone Into a Lean, Mean Habit Changing Machine

Behavioral Dynamics, Inc., developer of the MotivAider®, has released an app for Android phones that will enable users to stay focused on making desired changes in their own behavior and habits.

Thief River Falls, MN, October 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- f you want to break a bad habit or create a good one, Behavioral Dynamics, Inc. has some good news for you. They've developed an app that will allow you to use your Android phone to make desired changes in your behavior and habits.

The MotivAider® For Mobile app replicates much of the functionality of the MotivAider®, an ingeniously simple electronic device that enables users of all ages to quickly, easily and effectively make desired changes in their own behavior and habits. Developed by Behavioral Dynamics nearly 25 years ago, the actual MotivAider® device has an impressive track record of success. It's been used by thousands of people in over 40 countries in industries that include education, healthcare, business, sports and self-improvement.

Like the MotivAider® device, the MotivAider® app works by correcting for a largely overlooked glitch in the design of the human mind.

"Amazingly, the mind includes no dependable mechanism for keeping good intentions on the front burner," says Dr. Steve Levinson, clinical psychologist and the MotivAider's inventor. "The MotivAider® dependably does what the mind fails to do on its own. It prevents your good intentions from getting lost in the shuffle." The MotivAider® is designed to work privately and automatically. According to Levinson, "It gently cuts through the clutter and keeps your attention focused on making whatever change you decide to make."

Like the actual MotivAider® device, the MotivAider® For Mobile app uses a self-repeating private vibration prompt to keep its user's attention focused on any chosen behavioral objective.

Levinson says Behavioral Dynamics developed the app to introduce smartphone users to the MotivAider® concept and allow them to experience some of the same benefits that MotivAider users enjoy. He admits that the app is something of a compromise. "Although the dedicated MotivAider device is more effective, it's obviously more convenient for smartphone users to be able to use an appliance they already have to change their behavior and habits," he said.

MotivAider® For Mobile is easy to use. First you decide on a desired behavior and devise a brief personal message that will remind and urge you to engage in that behavior. You then choose a vibration pattern to use as your private prompt. Next, you decide how often to receive prompts - from as often as once a minute to as seldom as once every 4 hours. Then you simply "associate" your personal message with the vibration prompt so that whenever you feel the selected vibration pattern, you will automatically think your personal message. You can modify your behavior change projects as needed, pause and resume them as you wish, and you can even set prompting to automatically start and stop at chosen times each day.

The MotivAider® For Mobile app is fully self-contained. It requires no internet connection and does not share any personal data. App users have access to the same free resources developed to help MotivAider® users achieve great results.

Priced at $3.99, the MotivAider® For Mobile app is now available at the Android Market. http://market.android.com/details?id=com.MotivAider.
