)-- Capital Area Health Alliance (CAHA) is pleased to announce the Choosing Health! rally taking place on October 18, 2011 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lansing, MI.
Choosing Health! is a community-wide rally to launch the Choosing Health! movement. This movement will address the obesity and inactivity issues in the tri-county area by creating a culture of healthy lifestyles that connects people to the full range of great health and wellness programs and resources that exist in this community to help folks who are Choosing Health!. Highlights of the event will include testimonials from community members who have adopted healthier lifestyles, displays from community resources available to enable Choosing Health!, “A Taste of Health” with free samples from area restaurants and caterers displaying their healthy offerings, presentations by Pediatrician Dr. Stacy Leatherwood Cannon on raising healthy children and dynamo national PBS nutrition leader Zonya Foco, RD, who will give us a motivational and entertaining message on habits for healthy living. Attendees will have chances to win great Door Prizes in free raffles.
Union Missionary Baptist Church is located at 500 S. Martin Luther King Jr., Lansing, MI 48915-2520, on CATA route 9. CATA will be providing free transportation to anyone who is coming to and from Choosing Health! (Just tell the bus driver that you are going to Choosing Health!) This free event includes a light supper snack. There will also be childcare for those who preregister for childcare service. Pre-registration is requested.
CAHA is a non-profit organization that formed in 1994 to empower the tri-county community to achieve better health. Over 170 organizations in the Greater Lansing Area participate in Alliance events including health professionals, community organizations and businesses.
