Novus Biologicals Announces New Dicer1 Antibody Made Using SDIX Genomic Antibody Technology™

Littleton, CO, October 20, 2011 --( Novus Biologicals announced today a new DICER1 antibody (catalog number NBP1-71691) for use in cell cycle and replication and cancer research. This DICER1 antibody was made using SDIX Genomic Antibody TechnologyTM.

DICER1 is a ribonuclease that has been extensively shown to be related to cancer. Small interfering RNAs are generated through DICER, and seem to play important roles in mitosis in normal cells and oncogenesis in mutated cells. DICER1 mutations are associated with blastoma, breast cancer, adenocarcinoma, and pancreatitis. In vision and hearing, DICER1 has been implicated in serious microRNA induced malformations of critical sensory cells. DICER1 is important in myelination and other nervous system protections. Finally, DICER1 is related to cardiovascular diseases, since microRNAs are aberrantly expressed in some pathological conditions.

SDIX Genomic Antibody Technology™ uses sophisticated bioinformatics and immunization strategies to produce high-quality antibodies that specifically bind to a targeted region of protein in its naturally folded form. The ability of any antibody to recognize a protein’s naturally folded state has the potential to expand an antibody’s utility to high-value applications like sandwich immunoassay, ChIP and flow cytometry.
