Dryhome Seeks Nominations for Its "Free Roof for the Holidays" Program That Helps Struggling Northern Virginia Families and Nonprofits

Nominations open on November 1 for DryHome Roofing & Siding's Free Roof for the Holidays program. For the 9th year, DryHome will give away a free roof to a Northern Virginia family, individual or nonprofit in need.

Sterling, VA, October 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- For the 9th year, Sterling, Va.-based DryHome Roofing and Siding is continuing its holiday tradition of giving a free roof away to struggling Northern Virginia individual, family or nonprofit.

Throughout November, DryHome will accept nominations from customers and the community to identify a Northern Virginia neighbor or nonprofit in need. This past year, Hubert Laconia of Sterling, an 87 year-old grandfather of four and WWII veteran, celebrated the holidays under a new roof as the recipient of DryHome’s annual Free Roof for the Holidays program.

“We always receive many heartfelt nominations, and are proud to be able to continue this tradition. Mr. Laconia served our country in many ways, and it felt great to be able to give back to him. We look forward to helping someone else this year,” said Steve Gotschi, DryHome’s owner.

Laconia is an elderly widower on a fixed income. He is a disabled veteran who served in both the Army and Air Force in WWII and the Korean War. Back home, he went on to serve again as a police detective with the FAA. He and his wife moved into his current home in 1966.

Prior to Mr. Laconia, Good Shepherd Alliance, a nonprofit that serves Loudoun County’s homeless, won a free roof for its family shelter. Other winners have included: Reston Interfaith, Falls Church Cub Scout House; Gabriel Homes, Mrs. Caylor, a Leesburg resident and volunteer; and Bernie Cline, an elderly Alexandria resident.

To nominate a neighbor in need, visit www.dryhome.com and click on the nomination form or email DryHome at info@dryhome.com. Nominator should include their name and phone number as well as nominee’s name, address, phone and reason why they are being nominated. Nominations close on December 5.
