A Record Number of Us States to Participate in the USA National Netball Championships

Westminster, CA, October 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday November 5, 2011, Netball America and Nashville Kangaroos will host over 20 teams from 7 States (California, Georgia, Illinois, Nashville, New York, Texas & Washington State), at the USA National Netball Championships at A-Game facility, 215 Gothic Court, Franklin, Tennessee from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The tournament will see Ladies, Men’s, Mixed and U/18 teams all compete for the National Championship in their category.

“Netball America’s success in developing American Netball is driven by the type of world class Netball events being held here in the USA. We have enjoyed a busy year in which Netball was showcased to over 35,000 Americans. We are excited to hold the American National Championship at this NCAA venue, with a record number of US States participating and to have GARED and Hunt Brothers Pizza as key event sponsors. It will also be the debut of the premier USA Netball national pool of umpires,” said Sonya Ottaway, President of Netball America Inc.

Due to the overwhelming response, team registration to compete in the championship is now closed.

The clash between the USA representative teams, the East Coast Jaguars vs West Coast Sharks will kick off the event. Netball fans and supporters are also in for a treat as Season 7 American Idol finalist Michael Johns will perform at the event. The official post-Championship event is being held at Dooley’s, 204 21st Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203-2401. You can catch Michael Johns, as well as 2010’s Australian Independent Country Music Awards Finalist Stephen Rowe & Band, featuring former TATU lead guitarist Troy MacCubbin, and bassist Dutch Suoninen performing.

Entrance to all events on Saturday November 5 is free to the public. They encourage teachers, students and other spectators to come along and learn about Netball. Volunteers are also welcome by emailing info@netballamerica.com.

Netball is considered the "original women’s basketball" that was created in the US and is now played by more than 20 million people throughout the world. “The great thing about Netball is that you don’t have to be tall or fast to play it,” says Ottaway, “and with Netball America growing the sport so quickly throughout the US it’s giving Americans an opportunity to participate in a sport that relies more on teamwork than natural physical skills.”
