Flying Elephant Pub & Grill Helps Raise $20,000 for Woman Battling Rare Cancer

“Hope 4 Steph” Fundraiser Draws Hundreds to Carlsbad Restaurant for Live Music and Auctions

San Diego, CA, November 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Just over a month ago, Stephanie Weedman of Oceanside was diagnosed with Grey Zone Lymphoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer that is part Non-Hodgkin’s and part Hodgkin’s. To help fund the costly chemotherapy treatments for the mother of two, Flying Elephant Pub & Grill hosted a fundraiser that not only drew more than 400 locals to support the cause, but raised $20,000 for Stephanie and her family. The event featured live music from Dominic Balli, as well as raffles and silent auction prizes that included surfboards, skateboards, gift certificates, and original art from San Diego’s finest.

At 26 years of age, Stephanie is a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and skateboarder who helped build Washington State Skate Park. Donations to help her fight this life-threatening disease may still be made online or via check at Wells Fargo Bank, payable to “Hope 4 Steph.”

“We are committed to finding ways to give back to the community,” said Dave Anson, owner of Flying Elephant Pub & Grill. “Our restaurant features two stages, video screens, a state-of-the-art sound system, private party rooms, and more to host events and fundraisers such as Hope 4 Steph. We are so pleased at the outpouring of support from the community and welcome other nonprofits and charities to reach out to us to find ways to raise awareness and money for their causes as well.”
