Pop Legends "The Osmonds" to Perform Live on Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral

Three of The Osmonds – perhaps the world’s best-known pop family – are to perform live on two Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ cruises aboard Balmoral.

Ipswich, United Kingdom, November 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Wayne, Jay and Jimmy will be bringing a touch of "Osmondmania" to the high seas on L1205, a 14-night cruise of the Western Mediterranean, departing on 12th May 2012 from Southampton, and on L1206, a three-night mini-cruise to Ostende and Le Havre from the same port, departing on 26th May 2012.

The Osmonds have enjoyed a string of massive hits on both sides of the Atlantic throughout their long career, and have sold millions of albums, with several gold and platinum discs to their credit. Well known for their close harmonies, The Osmonds now perform all styles of music, from barbershop to pop, rock, country and jazz. Having first appeared on U.S. TV on the Andy Williams Show in the 1960s, The Osmonds toured together again for the first time in 27 years in 2008 to mark their 50th year as a performing family. Playing to packed houses all over the world, and the subject of two TV documentaries, The Osmonds’ dedication to their families, religious beliefs and their sheer wealth of musical talent have won them fans of all ages.

Now, Fred. Olsen’s guests will be able to enjoy The Osmonds’ tremendous talent aboard Balmoral as part of the 2011/12 season of Fred. Olsen’s award-winning Music & Laughter programme on a choice of two cruises. The three Osmond brothers are multi-talented: Wayne – second oldest of the original Osmond Brothers band – plays a variety of instruments, including clarinet, sax and guitar and has also written many of the band’s hits; Jay – a performer since he was two-and-a-half, was voted one of the "Top Ten Drummers" in the U.S.A. during the ‘70s and also shared lead vocals on the band’s 1972 smash hit, "Crazy Horses"; Jimmy is something of a multi-faceted showbiz entrepreneur, who has latterly also performed in Britain, as Buttons in "Cinderella", in "Grease" in the West End and as Billy Flynn in a national tour of the musical "Chicago". However, for a generation of music fans of "a certain age", he will forever be best remembered as "Little Jimmy Osmond" singing "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool."

The cruises featuring The Osmonds are L1205 to the Western Mediterranean and L1206, a mini-cruise to Belgium and France. L1205 is a 14-night cruise, departing from Southampton on 12th May 2012, and calling at Lisbon (Portugal), Almeria (Spain), Alicante (Spain), Palma (Mallorca), Mahon (Menorca), Gibraltar and La Coruna (Spain), before returning to Southampton. Prices for this cruise start from £1,549 per person, based on two adults sharing an inside twin cabin, Grade "I", and include all meals and entertainment on board, and port taxes – and, of course, live performances by The Osmonds.

Mini-cruise L1206 – an ideal "taster" for those who are new to cruising – departs from Southampton on 26th May 2012, for a three-night cruise to Ostende (Belgium) and Le Havre (France), returning to Southampton.
