GreyTV, a Los-Angeles-based media company, launches Starmap.com to protect celebrity privacy, while giving visitors a never before seen view into the lifestyles of the Stars. Using the latest in social media and geospatial technology, creator Michael Grey’s Starmap.com is a win-win for Hollywood’s public interest/privacy rights balancing act.
Michael Grey, Starmap.com’s creator, developed the site with the goal of relieving Hollywood’s tension between privacy rights and public interest. “You’ve got adoring fans who want to get closer to the Stars, and the celebrities are building fences and putting up signs that say ‘Go Away!’, its a pretty bad experience for everyone,” says Grey. “So we created a virtual world that gives you a view into celebrities lives that no one has ever seen before, without invading their privacy, its a real win-win.”
GreyTV is currently developing a mobile version of the site, slated for release in early 2012.
